Weir(d) and Wonderful Stroud!

Posted on September 22, 2013 by Becca | 0 comments

I took a trip to Stroud last week and ran into the surrealist sculptor Andrew Wood. While he was showing me his work, Andrew divulged that he lived in Spain in the 1980s and was a good friend of our favourite Andalucian potter, Matthew Weir! You can see Andrew's work at the Ganapati South Indian Kitchen in Bellenden Road, Peckham, as he was commissioned by them to make a fabulous Ganesh elephant. Ganesh is the god in charge of removing obstacles, and he has a very sweet tooth! Andrew may be putting on an exhibition at Ganapati in the coming months.

I also made contact with an old schoolfriend, Fionna Hesketh. She's been busy over the 30-something years since we last met, making wonderful vitreous enamel jewellery.

As if that wasn't enough, I popped over the Nailsworth where Mark Lowe stocks some of our lovely rugs in his gorgeous boutique gallery, Lowe's Gallery. Well worth a visit if you are in the area!
